ABOUT THE SHOW
Step into the golden age of Hollywood in our production of the timeless classic, Singin’ in the Rain. Staged on the historic Zilker Theatre Productions, this summer’s free hillside musical is a high-energy, joyous celebration of resilience.
We are seeking a talented, dedicated cast of all shapes and sizes to bring this story, of transition and triumph, to life. At its heart, Singin’ in the Rain reminds us that even the most daunting change is survivable—and even wonderful—when we have the support of our community.
AUDITIONS
- Auditions will be held by appointment only March 14-15, 2026 with Callbacks Saturday March 21st.
- Actors must be at least 16 years old by May 2026.
- Actors of all genders, ethnicities and abilities strongly encouraged to audition.
- An audition waitlist is available if preferred audition time slots are full. The audition waitlist will be backfilled based on submission order and attendance availability.
Things to consider before you audition:
- Rehearsals begin in late May and are typically held Mon-Thurs evenings and Sat-Sun afternoon/evenings. While not all cast may be required at every rehearsal, please be aware of this time commitment and the required availability. Rehearsal conflicts will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- The show runs July 10th to August 15th, with performances from Thursday through Sunday evenings. The show will be cast with the understanding that every cast member will be available for every performance with no conflicts.
- Cast positions are paid.
- At this time, Zilker Theatre Productions is unable to hire Actor’s Equity Association members.

Character Breakdown
Zelda Zanders
A flapper socialite and actress on her ninth marriage, she is Lina’s friend and informant.

Age: 30 to 40
R.F. Simpson
A successful, magnanimous, film producer. He leads the other characters in creating a new movie musical.

Age: 50 to 65
Roscoe Dexter
A famous film director with theatrical mannerisms and tendencies. Frequently frazzled and works with Lina and Don.

Age: 30 to 50
Cosmo Brown
A wacky and playful on-set pianist for silent films. Don’s best friend and former dance partner.

Age: 35 to 45

Lina Lamont
A slow-witted silent film diva with a big personality and a harshly unpleasant voice. She is Don’s regular co-star.

A suave Hollywood actor and dancer. Cosmo’s best friend and Lina’s regular co-star.

An excitable film agent bordering on manic. He works for Simpson.

Kathy Selden
An earnest, talented actress with whit and charm. She falls in love with Don and performs as Lina’s speaking and singing voice.
