Current Volunteer Calls
Set Construction Days
(From our Technical Director, Dillon) Beginning June 9th to June 18th, we will work on constructing and assembling the set from 8am-2pm during the weekdays. We will also have days we paint the set later in the month, but that is TBD at this time.
If you’re hoping to learn more about technical theater, or get a foot in the door into the industry, this a great opportunity to learn some old-school theater carpentry and gain some stage work experience. This is also a rare opportunity where there’s ample time to talk about theater and ask questions and learn– fortunately we don’t have the time pressure as badly as many productions do that often prevents those learning opportunities. My assistant and I are happy to share our knowledge and experience on topics like technical theater, carpentry, fabrication, rigging, logistics, workplace safety, unionism etc.

ZTP Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering with Zilker Theatre Productions is a great way to give back to the community and an opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends, and have a whole lot of fun while supporting this uniquely Austin tradition!
We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and skill levels! We need many volunteers each night of our production to help with concessions, keeping the hillside clean, accepting donations, and helping guests front of house.
Have a theatrical or non-profit background and want to help? Reach out through our contact methods below! We’re looking for board and committee members, plus designers and crew position in the pre- and post- season, too.
Summer Musical
Our front-of-house and concessions volunteers create a welcoming environment for our guests and provide excellent customer service. They help get everyone seated, set up concessions, answer questions about the show, and clean up the Hillside afterwards.
Backstage Crew
Our backstage volunteers are the unsung heroes of the Summer Musical! They help with set construction, costumes, lighting, and sound. If you have a passion for theatre production and enjoy hands-on work, we would love to have you on our team.
